Hanging Out
A3: Awakening has a very active community within the game. The many message boards and chat rooms lead to players getting to know each other quite well, and provide many bored people with something to do. Also, you may find these resources useful in your quest for A3 knowledge.

Message Boards | Chatbox | Quickposts | Common Sense

Message Boards
Clicking the Message Boards quicklink will bring you to a list of message boards, any of which you’re welcome to post on. Different boards have different subjects (like most forums!), so be sure to put your post on the right board. Options to change different message board settings can be found under My Account -> Message Board Settings. Also be sure to check out the Message Board Rules before posting. There is an option to allow you to block MB posts from people you have added to your QuickPost ban book.

Chatbox
You can enter a web-based chatroom by clicking on the Town Meeting quicklink in Georgetown. There are three chatrooms available: Town Hall/The Lounge, Trading Room, and The Beleaguered Pony. Players who have their name bold in chat are GAME ADMINISTRATION, and they have the power to ban rule breakers from chat. You can find various settings for the chatbox under My Account -> Chatbox Settings. Certain words in the chatbox become automatic hyperlinks to areas of the game. For example, typing in my stall in the Trading Room will link you to your stall where others could view what you are selling. Another example is typing in help files will link you to the main page of these Help Files. There are other hyperlinks that you can use but are not listed here. Be sure to check out the Chat Rules before chatting, and you are advised to heed any warnings from staff that you may receive.

QuickPosts
Once you’ve made some friends, you can privately communicate with them using QuickPosts, A3’s version of in-game email. Various settings for quickposts can be found under My Account -> Quickpost Settings. Your QP address book is a powerful tool. You can add friends to the address book so you can easily QP them without having to look up their ID. You can also ban any annoying people or enemies trying to pick a fight. If you add someone to your banlist they will not be able to QP you.

Common Sense
Keep in mind that there are things you can do within the A3 community which may not be against any rules, but are generally considered annoying. An example of this is typing in all capital letters. This could irritate people and make you look bad. Don't type your posts all in capitals in order to get attention, as you'll only put people off of reading them. Flaming people, needlessly insulting others and other such activities will most likely anger even more people. Also, many people look down on those who use internet shorthand ('u' instead of 'you', etc.), especially if it is highly overused. You will pick up what is generally liked and disliked by the community in general over time. If you want to get along with others, or have questions answered, you'll probably find that you have an easier time if you do not break the unofficial "rules" that the community tends to abide by. The best way to treat others is how you would wish to be treated yourself.
